Crate Ship Games

About Crate Ship Games

Crate Ship Games is an independent browser-game studio and arcade. We make our own games, build the Crate Engine that lets anyone create 3D games in a web browser, and host a free catalog of partner games you can play on phone, tablet or desktop without installing anything.

Who we are

Crate Ship Games is operated by Jamaine Martin in Washington, United States. It is a small, owner-run studio: the owner personally approves every creator game and reads the support inbox. You can reach us at crateshipstudios@gmail.com.

What you will find here

CrateShip Originals

Originals are games we design and build ourselves. Our first is The Last Fisherman, a first-person fishing adventure set on the island of Greyhaven. You play Jim, who starts out trying to put supper on his family's table and ends up supplying the whole town through ten delivery chapters. It runs in the browser with touch, keyboard and mouse, and game-controller support, and it is free to play with no account and no ads. Our beginner's guide and fish, boats and gear reference are written from the game's own data.

The Crate Engine

The Crate Engine is a 3D game editor that runs entirely in the browser. You can lay out a world, add physics, write game logic in JavaScript, TypeScript or Lua, and export a playable web build. Two of our test projects, a car-combat arena and a home-run derby, were built with it from start to finish. Read Build your first browser game for a walkthrough, or the engine documentation for the command reference.

Partner games

To give players more to play while our own catalog grows, we list free games distributed by GameMonetize, an established HTML5 game distributor. Those games are made by other studios, run from the distributor's servers and may show the distributor's ads. Each one is clearly labelled with its developer and distributor before you press Play. How we list games explains how they are selected and what we check.

What we care about

Where we are today

The arcade, accounts, the engine and The Last Fisherman are live. Paid game sales and creator payouts are not yet switched on; the payout policy explains what has to happen first. We publish changes to our policies on the Legal & Trust page.
